The Emergency Food Network is hosting its third annual “Shooting for Food” fundraiser at the Gig Harbor Sportsman’s Club Aug. 1.
Funds raised at the all-day event have been used by the these two entities to buy more than $300,000 in food items for distribution to the local food banks, said Thom Halligan, one of the organizers for the club.
The Breaking Hunger trapshooting tournament will run from noon-5 p.m.
Participants will have the chance to shoot at 50 clay pigeons, with prizes awarded to the top shooters and fundraisers (individuals and teams). As many as 200 shooters are expected to take part this year.

While trapshooting remains the main focus, organizers have added an archery shoot for this year
