A number of events are taking place at Mount St. Helens this weekend. Visitors can enjoy some music, take in art or help remove invasive weeds.
Arts of the Mountain: 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. The U.S. Forest Service and Mount St. Helens Institute will host the third annual Arts of the Mountain. Paintings, sculptures, jewelry, woodworking, stained glass from 25 local artists, music and food will be offered at five venues along state Route 504: Silver Lake Grange (milepost 5), Mount St. Helens RV Park (MP 8), Twosome Art Gallery (MP 15), Hoffstadt Bluffs Visitor Center (MP 27) and the Science and Learning Center at Coldwater (MP 43). Music on the Mountain: 6:30-8:30 p.m. Saturday at Johnston Ridge Observatory Amphitheater. This is the first of three free concerts to be offered this summer. “Science” will be performing. Details at facebook. com/MusicOnTheMtn.
Weed Rodeo: 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday. Volunteers are needed for the eighth annual effort to remove invasive Scotch broom near Coldwater Lake. Meet at the Coldwater Lake boat launch at 9:45 a.m. Sign up at bit.ly/Weedrodeo2014.
