Big Lake holds largemouth bass together with some sunfishes that should verge on 11 inches in its long shallow reach. There's a limit of 10 on the crappie as well as a minimum size of nine inches for them.
Angler amenities: The boat ramps accommodate side-by-side launches that could prove convenient when bass fishing warms up and the formal and informal tournaments start.
Surface area: 545 acres.
In the catch: Smaller largemouth bass, yellow perch, crappie and the occasional native cutthroat.
Stocking for 2008: None.
Special rules: Crappie must be 9 inches minimum and 10 crappie per day limit. Otherwise, statewide season, size and bag limits apply. Landlocked salmon rules apply.
Boat launch: WDFW – concrete puncheon, on West Big Lake Boulevard.
Getting there: Take Cook Road east to Sedro-Woolley, then drive south across the Skagit River on Highway 9 to the town of Clear Lake. Continue south of Highway 9 about seven miles to Big Lake.
