Pair of Western Judo Club members take first at tournaments

Five Western Judo Club members were in action at two different events on Saturday, May 2. Mike Sullivan led the competitors by taking first in his Senior Men’s Brown and Black Belt Heavyweight Division at the Seattle Dojo Annual Judo Tournament and Kata Competition.

Sullivan won all three of his matches. Gary Gokey and Jacob Standaert were also at the tournament. Gokey won one of his four matches.

Ralph Bajema competed in the Masters M10 (74-79 years) 73 kg division at the USA Judo Senior National Championships in Dallas, taking second in the division. He also competed in the 50 and over open division at the competition.

Mark Glaser was also at the national tournament and took first in the M5 (50-54 years) 81 kg division by winning both of his matches.

Western Judo will have members competing again in the Inland Empire Judo Classic from May 22-23, in Spokane.
