Former Lynden Christian prep basketball star and Bellingham Slam swingman Paul Hafford has returned to Australia to play professionally for another season.
Hafford, 31, has re-signed with the Mandurah Magic of Australia’s State Basketball League, continuing a basketball career that has taken him around the world. Hafford also played in Mandurah, which is located on Australia’s west coast, in 2014, averaging 20 points per game and 8 rebounds per game.
A graduate of Portland State, Hafford starred for the Slam for five seasons from 2008 to 2012, bookending an impressive run with the team with International Basketball League championships in his first and last seasons in Bellingham. He was named co-MVP of the 2008 IBL title game and was the club’s leading scorer when they repeated as champions in 2012.
