Blazers top Wolves, advance to third straight Cascade Cup

The Bellingham Blazers advanced to a third-straight Cascade Cup with a 2-0 victory over Wenatchee on Sunday, March 1, at the Bellingham Sportsplex.

The game was scoreless after two periods, but the Blazers led the Wolves in shots, 35-26, and those extra shots would come in handy.

Kristjan Toivola scored the opening goal in the third period off of an assist from Vladislav Yefremov, firing the shot as he absorbed a hit. Yefremov added a goal of his own with just less than five minutes left to give Bellingham and goalie Cody Foster some breathing room. Foster finished with 39 saves.

Bellingham will take on West Sound, its opponent in the Cascade Cup for the past two years, on Friday and Saturday, March 6 and 7, at the Bremerton Ice Arena.
