Martial artists from Team Rock Solid out of the Shayne Simpson’s Martial Arts & Fitness in Bellingham fared well at the National Black Belt League Super Grands World Championships in Buffalo, New York.
Tanner Simpson won his Sport Karate World Championship in Junior Hard Open Musical division.
Simpson also was third in the 15- to 17-year-old Hard & Soft Creative Weapons, fourth in the 15- to 17-years old Male Hard Creative Forms, fifth in the 15- to 17-years old Hard and Soft Choreographed Musical Weapons and sixth in the 15- to 17-year old Male Hard Choreographed Musical Forms
Kayden Simpson was second in the World for 9 and under Male Hard Creative Forms and seventh in the World for 11 and under Hard and Soft Choreographed Musical Weapons.
Lukas Talbert was fourth in the World in 9 and under Male Hard Creative Forms Division, seventh in the World in 11 and under Hard and Soft Choreographed Musical Weapons and eighth in the 11 and under Hard and Soft Choreographed Musical Weapons.
Sid Keene was eighth in the 12- to 14-year-old Hard Choreographed Male Musical Forms.
Gymnasts perform well at meet
Six gymnasts from the Gymstar Sports Center competed in the Sprint Meet on Dec. 12-14 at the Metropolitan Gym in Kent.
Grace Hettinga was fourth in her age group at Level 6 with a score of 33.825,
Camryn Miller and Skylar Walston competed for the first time at Level 6 with Walston placing seventh with a score of 34.1 in her age group, and Ginger Mullins was sixth at Level 8 with a score of 33.1 in her age group
Alyssa Willette and Anneli Johnson competed at Level 7.
Bellingham’s Christman earns first ace
Maureen Christman of Bellingham earned her first hole in one on the No. 9 hole at Raspberry Ridge Golf Course in Everson.
Christman, who has played golf for 32 years, used a 7-iron on the 135 yard hole. witnesses were Karen Walker and Darell Darnell.
