Bellingham and Sehome battled for the win and Bellingham succeeded, coming out 1-0 against its cross-town rival on Tuesday, Sept. 8 at Civic Stadium.
“It was definitely a battle of speed,” said Sehome coach Andria Fountain in a phone interview. “They have some fast forwards and we have fast defenders.”
Kayla Heidenreich, junior midfielder for Bellingham, scored the single goal near the end of the first half.
Both teams play again on Thursday, Sept. 10. Bellingham plays Squalicum at 7 p.m. at Civic Stadium and Sehome will go against Ferndale at 4 p.m. at Ferndale High School.
