Ferndale’s boys’ soccer team answered both goals scored by Meridian to end the match in a 2-2 tie on Thursday, April 23, at Ferndale High School.
Jake Birnel scored both goals for Meridian and Sam Ford scored both goals for Ferndale.
“Sam Ford played a tremendous game,” Ferndale coach Rigel Weis said in a phone interview. “He stepped up and capitalized on his opportunities.”
Birnel found the net eight minutes into the match for his first goal and Ford answered in the 37th minute. Birnel got his second goal one minute into the second half and Ford answered again with a goal of his own in the 44th minute.

“It could have gone either way this game,” Weis said.
Ferndale will take on Mount Baker next at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 28, on the road. Meridian will play Mount Baker next at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 25, on the road.
