Isaac DeVange scored the winning goal for Sehome’s boys’ soccer team in the 68th minute in its 2-1 victory against Meridian on Thursday, April 16, at Meridian High School.
Jack Willis scored a penalty-kick goal in the 54th minute after DeVange was fouled in the goalie box. Meridian’s Alan Eyoub scored the lone goal for the Trojans in the 58th minute off an assist from Alex Martin.
“It was a really unified effort. Teams seem to have their best game against us,” Sehome coach John Sylvester said in a phone interview. “Isaac (DeVange) played solid up front. He’s been outstanding for us all year.”
Sylvester highlighted Gus Diehl for showing composure and maturity in the game as a freshman.
Sehome will take on Newport next at 7:30 p.m. Friday, April 17, on the road. Meridian takes on Bellingham next at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 21, at home.
