Lynden’s Nicolas Parris scored in the final minute to salvage a 1-1 tie against Nooksack Valley in a Northwest Conference game on Tuesday, April 14, at Bender Fields.
Nooksack Valley had scored in the 15th minute, and both teams had great shots that were deflected off the crossbar and goal posts or saved throughout the rest of the game, Lynden coach Drew Smiley said in a phone interview.
“Alejandro Huante was our star player. He made you want to play in the game,” Smiley said. “He was all over the place. He won every tackle and after that he’ d go through and distribute, and was getting shots. He was just everywhere, it was amazing.”
The game was fast-paced and exciting, Smiley added.

“Either team could have won, but a tie is probably an appropriate outcome,” he said. “It’s disappointing that we only get to play them once this year.”
Lynden has some time off before a 4 p.m. Tuesday, April 21, game at home against Anacortes. Nooksack Valley hosts Ferndale at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, April 16, at home.
