Burlington-Edison scored three goals in four minutes to put Meridian in an early hole in the Trojans’ 4-0 Northwest Conference loss on Monday, April 6, at Burlington-Edison.
The Tigers scored in the 23rd, 26th and 27th minutes, also adding a goal in the 72nd minute.
“The boys were just a little shocked (after three straight goals),” Meridian coach Joe Spencer said in a phone interview. “The first 15 minutes we had the better play, then Burlington was just brilliant. So at halftime I told them it was gut-check time and we needed to play a bit better. The second half was much better.”
The Trojans get a chance to bounce back at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 8, at Bender Fields against Lynden.
