Fransen leads Lyncs over Ferndale

Cody Fransen scored two goals and added an assist to lead Lynden Christian’s boys’ soccer team to a 3-1 Northwest Conference win over Ferndale on Monday, March 30, at Lynden Christian.

Liam Kroontje also scored for Lynden Christian.

Ferndale’s goal came from Josh Garza to tie it a 1-1 before Fransen scored in the second half and Kroontje added the insurance goal four minutes later.

“We struggled at first ... our touch was not solid in the first half and I thought our team really shored things up in the second half,” Lynden Christian coach Brent De Ruyter said in a phone interview. “Bailey Graf from Ferndale was really dangerous today. He got a couple decent shots off, made things tough for our center backs, and had a great work rate.”

Lynden Christian takes on Lynden at 4 p.m. Wednesday, April 1, at Bender Fields. Ferndale plays Bellingham at the same time and date at home.
