Borderites suffer big loss to Cubs

Sedro-Woolley handed Blaine an 8-0 Northwest Conference loss on Thursday, March 26, at Sedro-Woolley.

The Cubs scored four goals in the first 15 minutes to jump out to an early lead.

Blaine coach Giovanni Quesada said he tried to use the loss as a learning experience and stay positive with the team.

“There was a lot of miscommunication the first 20 minutes or so,” Quesada said in a phone interview. “In the second half they were running, they moved the ball outside and had some chances at the net. I appreciated the team in the second half showed more passion and confidence. It was a different game in the second half.”

Blaine looks to bounce back at 4 p.m. Monday, March 30, at Pipeline Fields when it hosts Lynden.
