Ferndale’s boys’ soccer team conceded a goal within the first two minutes and couldn’t recover in its 2-0 loss against Anacortes on Thursday, March 26, at Ferndale High School.
The Golden Eagles’ goalkeepers Nikita Leonovets and Ful Schornborn each had four saves in the game. Ferndale was outshot by Anacortes 8-1 in the match.
“It was a tough game for us,” Ferndale coach Rigel Weis said in a phone interview. “There were some moments of good play, but not enough. We got a little shell-shocked from the early goal and it was hard to recover.”
Ferndale will take on Lynden Christian next at 4:30 p.m. Monday, March 30, at Bender Fields.
