Berends scores 2 as Pioneers top Borderites

After conceding a goal within the first minute, Blaine’s boys’ soccer team was able to bounce back and net a goal of its own. But the comeback fell short in a 4-2 defeat to Nooksack Valley on Saturday, March 21, at Pipeline Fields.

Zack Oakley and Konner VanRijswick scored the two goals for the Borderites. The Pioneers’ Brent Berends netted two goals of his own.

“Nooksack played good today,” Blaine coach Giovanni Quesada said in a phone inteview. “But I liked the attitude from my team. They never quit. I always tell them to play the full 80 (minutes).”

Blaine will play host to Burlington-Edison next at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 21 and Nooksack Valley hosts Squalicum next at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 21.
