Meridian’s boys’ soccer team battled to a 1-1 tie with Anacortes on Tuesday, March 17, at home in a nonconference game.
The Seahawks pulled ahead in the 12th minute with a Milan Kassa goal into the lower left from 18 yards out.
Alan Eyoub pulled Meridian back even with a penalty kick goal in the 20th minute after Alex Martin was fouled in the box.
“They took it to us a little bit in the first,” Meridian coach Joe Spencer said in a phone interview. “We played a little defensively and felt them out, then in the second half we came out and said, ‘Why not? Why not us?’ and went on the offensive a bit more. That gave us some good chances.”
