Oakley leads Blaine over Mount Baker

Zack Oakley scored two goals to lead the Blaine boys’ soccer team to a 4-0 victory against Mount Baker on Tuesday, March 17, at Pipeline Fields.

“Oakley made a nice run on the left side and got by the defense,” Blaine coach Giovanni Queseda said in a phone interview.

The Borderites’ Alieu Diaw scored a header goal in the 39th minute off of a Kyle Sentkowski corner kick and Konner VanRijswick scored a 20 yard free kick in the 68th minute.

“A lot of possession by our team,” Giovanni said. “Lots of crosses from both sides of the field.”

Blaine will take on Meridian next at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, March 19, at Pipeline Fields and Mount Baker takes the field against Lynden Christian next at 4:30 p.m. Friday, March 20, at home.
