Lynden’s boys’ soccer team kicked off its season with a 3-1 home win over Ferndale on Monday, March 16, at Bender Fields in a nonconference game.
The Lions were led by Nicholas Parris and Jordi Ramirez, who had a goal and an assist each.
“I thought we played really well, but there was still a ton to be worked on,” Lynden coach Drew Smiley said in a phone interview. “Jordi is a freshman, brand new, so you can’t say enough when he gets a goal and assist in our first outing.”
Keaton Hanson also scored and Isaiah Baseden added an assist for Lynden. Ferndale scored on what Smiley described as a fluke goal in the 24th minute.
