Shane Olson scored two goals and added an assist to lead the Meridian boys’ soccer team to a 5-0 win over Mount Baker on Monday, March 16, at Meridian in a nonconference game.
“We shared the ball well and got everyone involved,” Meridian coach Joe Spencer said in a phone interview. “It was definitely a preseason game. The next time we play Mount Baker it will be a different game.”
Alan Eyoub added a goal and an assist, and Jordan and Jake Birnel each had an unassisted goal for the Trojans.
“That was Shane’s first varsity game. He hadn’t played since middle school and he’s a junior,” Spencer said. “He surprised the heck out of us. Alan was dangerous all game long and probably should have scored a couple more goals.”
