Ferndale’s boys’ soccer team battled to a scoreless draw with Arlington on Saturday, March 14, at Ferndale High School.
Nikita Leonovets made nine saves, including a one-on-one stop five minutes before halftime to hold the Eagles scoreless.
“A lot of credit to Nikita in stepping up and making the save when he’s asked to,” Ferndale coach Rigel Weis said in a phone interview. “I thought that carried over to the second half, made us stronger. We really fed off it.”
The Golden Eagles had two great chances but Arlington keeper Nick McDonald made a pair of saves to stop Ferndale.
