Red Raiders settle for tie after late PK

Bellingham’s boys’ soccer team was on top for most of the game but a penalty kick by Everett in the last minute of the game forced a 1-1 non-league tie on Saturday, March 14, at Civic Stadium.

Jack Lewis-Clarke got Bellingham on the board in the 22nd minute, scoring off an assist from Noe Betancourt-Cruz and it looked like that lead would hold until the penalty.

“We made it closer than it needed to be,” Red Raiders coach Matt Zigulis said in a phone interview. “Other than that mistake, we did make opportunities and did create chances. I was pleased with how we played as a team.”

Bellingham plays Sehome next on Monday, March 16, at Civic Stadium.
