Coach: Rigel Weis
Last year: Finished 0-15-1 overall and 0-11-1 in the Northwest Conference. ... Missed the playoffs for the third straight season.
Players to watch: Bailey Graf (Sr., M/F), Andrew Higginson-Fernandez (Sr., F), Benjamin Kleiber (Sr., D/M), Luis Morin (Sr., F)
Outlook: After a dismal season last year, the Golden Eagles get a new coach at the helm in Rigel Weis. Weis has been the junior varsity coach for the past few years and even coached many of the current players in middle school. “That’s definitely helped,” Weis said in a phone interview. “It’s nice to see the maturity and just the way they’ve changed over the last three or four years.” Weis is hoping to turn a new leaf for the Golden Eagles, as they try to forget about a winless 2014 and in the first couple weeks, Weis has seen a team that’s hard at work. “They’re eager to please and eager to improve on maybe a season last year they were frustrated with.” Still, two weeks of practices isn’t enough for Weis to tell how the team will fare this year, but he’s looking forward to games getting under way so the strengths and weaknesses of the team can show. “The biggest thing for me is making sure everyday they are completely and fully committed to the actual development of skills.”
