Players to watch: Konner VanRijswick (Sr., D/M), Colton Economy (So., M/F), Zack Oakley (Jr., F)
Outlook: Coach Giovanni Quesada lost six seniors from his first year as coach of the Borderites and now must direct a much younger squad that has moved to the much tougher Class 2A. “We don’t care what you play — 1A, 2A, 3A — we just go out and try to win every game,” Quesada said in a phone interview. Quesada got 48 kids out for the team this year and will boast a large varsity and junior varsity roster. Despite the youth of the squad, Quesada’s philosphy has stayed the same. “I really want the kids to have fun, pass the ball and run and move the ball everywhere between the lines,” Quesada said. “That was one of the keys to why the team did so well last year.” Konner VanRijswick is one of Blaine’s few seniors and will provide plenty of leadership from the center of the field.
