Big second half key in Sehome win

Sehome’s girls’ soccer team overcame a slow start to pour in four goals in the second half for a 5-0 Northwest Conference win over Anacortes on Monday, Oct. 27, at Anacortes.

The Mariners were led by Lyla Pagnotta’s goal and assist. Andrea Zucchi added two goals, and Maddy Knutsen and Christina Funk each had another.

“We were a little slow to start. Our JV team had a gam,e and they sat in the cold for a long time and might not have warmed up as much as they should have,” Sehome coach Andria Fountain said in a phone interview.

Sehome (9-3-3, 8-1-3 NWC) is currently the third 2A seed in the NWC and should be locked into the playoffs with the win, Fountain said.
