Ferndale’s girls’ soccer team held on for a 1-0 Northwest Conference win over Lynden on Thursday, Oct. 23, at Ferndale.
Katelyn Neher scored the only goal of the game off of an assist from Jill Monson in the 13th minute.
The game was significant for Ferndale coach Joe Gonzalez, as this group of Lynden seniors were the last he coached before going to Ferndale to coach his daughter.
“It was an epic battle and they played really well,” Gonzalez said in a phone interview. “They hung in until the last whistle. Our patterns were on and we were doing the right thing.”
