Sehome’s girls’ soccer team barely topped Lynden Christian in a 3-2 Northwest Conference victory on Tuesday, Oct. 21, at Civic Stadium.
The Lyncs (5-7-4, 3-7-2 NWC) scored first in the 18th minute but an own goal, Lyla Pagnotta’s score and Devin Grahn’s goals put Sehome (8-3-2, 7-1-2 NWC) up 3-1. LC’s Sara Dougan scored on a free kick in the 60th minute to draw closer but the Lyncs couldn’t even it up.
“We struggled a little today,” Sehome coach Andria Fountain said in a phone interview. “I think the weather got to us. It was super windy out there. We didn’t control the ball as well as I wanted.”
The Mariners are currently third in the NWC 2A division with two games left until the playoffs. The Lyncs sit in second-place in the 1As with no games left to play in the regular season.
