Squalicum’s girls’ soccer team used its fast-paced offense to top Meridian 3-0 in a Northwest Conference game on Tuesday, Oct. 21, at Meridian High School.
Jackie Dierdorff scored in the 14th minute, Julia DeVere scored in the 42nd and Braeden Hilleary added one in the 78th for Squalicum (14-0-0, 10-0-0 NWC).
“Coming into it, we weren’t sure what to expect,” Meridian (8-4-2, 6-3-2) coach Terry Tigert said in a phone interview. “It was crazy to see how quick Squalicum plays. They are very quick, very fast-paced.”
Syndney Gospodinovich made six saves for Meridian, who currently sits at No. 1 in the NWC 1As heading into its final match against Burlington-Edison on Thursday, Oct. 21, in Burlington. Squalicum sits atop the 2A standings with two games remaining.
