Sehome’s offense gets going late

Sehome’s girls’ soccer team didn’t start scoring until the 19th minute but once the Mariners got going, they couldn’t be stopped. The Mariners cruised to a 9-1 Northwest Conference win over Blaine on Tuesday, Oct. 14, at Civic Stadium.

Devin Grahn scored twice and assisted on another goal for the Mariners (7-3-2, 6-1-2, NWC). Ashley Quesdada was the lone goalscorer for the Borderites (1-10-1, 0-8-0 NWC).

“We were a little slow to start,” Sehome coach Andria Fountain said in a phone interview. “I’m glad they picked it up and settled down.”

The Mariners get back to action next Tuesday, Oct. 21, against Lynden Christian at Civic Stadium. Blaine faces Lynden Christian on Thursday, Oct. 16, at Lynden Christian High School.
