Lynden’s girls’ soccer team couldn’t get its offense started and battled Anacortes to a draw on Tuesday, Oct. 14, at Bender Fields in a Northwest Conference game.
The Lions’ Emily Holt earned the shutout in goal. Lynden coach Carlos Melendez was impressed with his defense’s effort in the contest.
“Anacortes had a couple of chances on goal, but our defense has been our rock all season long,” Melendez said. “Erin Fiebig is playing well. She got upfield really well and found open space. And her sister, Kelly Fiebig, is a rock in the back. They both tried to get things going on offense.”
The Seahawks had just one substitute for the game and the Lions may have taken them a too lightly, causing them to come in with a lack of energy, Melendez said.
