Hilleary’s two goals lead Storm

Braeden Hilleary had two goals to lead Squalicum’s girls’ soccer team to a 4-0 win over Sedro-Woolley on Thursday, Oct. 9, at Civic Stadium in a Northwest Conference game.

Hilleary scored the first and last goals for the Storm, and Julia DeVere and Kim Dorr added the other two. The Storm had 25 shots to Sedro-Woolley’s three.

Sedro-Woolley’s goalkeeper, Charmaine DeWit, kept the Cubs in the game with 14 saves.

“Honestly Charmaine did an awesome job in goal tonight,” Squalicum coach David Kish said in a phone interview. “She made some big saves. It was all two-touch soccer. Our defensive line did a nice job tonight, too. We kept them out of our end for most of the game.”

Squalicum also had assists from Kelly Anderson (2), Jackie Dierdorff and Kim Hazlett.

The Storm will look for another win in its undefeated season Tuesday, Oct. 14, at Burlington-Edison.
