The Meridian girls’ soccer team didn’t get going until late in the first half, but ended up cruising to a 4-1 Northwest Conference victory over Anacortes on Tuesday, Oct. 7, at Anacortes.
Janessa Murphy’s goal in the 37th minute spurred the Trojans’ offense into the second half.
“The first half was a little rocky,” Meridian coach Terry Tigert said in a phone interview. “We had a ton of shots (18). The second half was a complete 180. We possessed 85 to 95 percent of the time.”
Two goals by Emily Brackinreed and one by Ryley Zapien capped the strong effort for Meridian.
The Trojans face a tough matchup next against Sehome on Thursday, Oct. 9.
