The Bellingham girls’ soccer team lifted its winning streak to five after defeating Blaine 5-0 on Thursday, Oct. 2, in a Northwest Conference matchup.
Morgan Jones got the scoring effort started in the 12th minute off an assist from Kayla Heidenreich. Brooke Baker’s goal in the 31st minute put the Red Raiders up 2-0 going into halftime.
“First half was definitely the stronger half for us,” Blaine coach Kelly Tuski said in a phone interview. “Kept it 2-0. That’s pretty amazing for our team. Defense up to our attack, they were playing strong.”
A goal by Jones and two from Heidenreich in the second half sealed the win.
Bellingham (5-5-0, NWC 4-2-0) hosts Burlington-Edison on Tuesday, Oct. 7, while Blaine (1-8-1, 0-6-0) next plays against Mount Baker on Thursday, Oct. 9.
