Bartel scores twice in Ferndale’s shutout win

Jordin Bartel scored two goals for the Ferndale girls’ soccer team as it rolled to a 4-0 Northwest Conference victory over Sehome on Tuesday, Sept. 30, at Ferndale.

Kayla Downs scored first for the Golden Eagles in the 21st minute. Christiana Salinas followed suit 10 minutes later with a goal of her own, and Bartel added her first just six minutes after that.

Bartel completed her scoring effort in the 61st minute. Ferndale’s defense stood strong, only forcing the goalkeeper to make one save in the shutout win.

Sehome’s Nicole Carlson had a save in goal in the first half, and Camryn Ranson had two saves guarding the net in the second half.

Ferndale (4-3-1 overall, 3-1-0 NWC) travels to take on Sedro-Woolley at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 2, while Sehome (3-3-2, 2-1-2) will hope to bounce back at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 2, at Nooksack Valley.
