The Mount Baker girls’ soccer team kept things close, not allowing a goal to Sedro-Woolley through 42 minutes, but four second-half goals for the Cubs gave them a 4-0 win on Tuesday, Sept. 23, at Mount Baker in a Northwest Conference matchup.
“Basically the start of the second half, Sedro wanted it a lot more,” Mount Baker coach Jason Jorgensen said in a phone interview. “They just kept putting the pressure on us.”
Sedro-Woolley scored three goals in a six-minute stretch late in the game to seal the win. Still, Jorgensen was happy with the effort of his girls in the first half.
“We came out with a lot of energy and got some really good crosses,” he said. “We were unlucky not to finish some of our chances, and the defense was playing phenomenal, covering for each other.”
Mount Baker (0-4-2 overall, NWC 0-2-0) is next in action Thursday, Sept. 25, against Sehome at Civic Stadium.
