Red Raiders get first win

Bellingham’s girls’ soccer team finally has a tally in the win column after a 6-3 win over Meridian on Saturday, Sept. 20, at Civic Stadium.

Brooke Baker knocked in three goals and Kayla Heidenreich scored two to help the Red Raiders.

“We moved the ball really well today,” Bellingham (1-5-0, 0-2-0 NWC) said in a phone interview. “Brooke and Kayla worked really well off each other. We have to continue to work on keeping a clean slate on the defensive end.”

Meridian (3-1-1, 1-0-1 NWC) got two goals from Janessa Murphy and a score from Lexi McKinnon. The Trojans were applauded by Wright as having a very dangerous attack.

“I like the way they play,” Wright said. “They fought had against us today.”

Bellingham plays Nooksack Valley on Tuesday, Sept. 23, at Civic Stadium. Meridian faces Nooksack Valley on Thursday, Sept. 25, at home.
