The Sehome girls’ soccer team suffered a minor letdown two days after a dramatic win over city-rival Bellingham, as the Mariners tied Lynden 1-1 during a Northwest Conference match Thursday, Sept. 18, at Northwest Soccer Park.
Sehome’s Lyla Pagnotta scored in the second minute off of an assist from Brittney Norris, and 35 minutes later Lynden’s Lexi Smiley evened the match.
“I think they have been playing hard, and we’ve had some tough games,” Sehome coach Andria Fountain said in a phone interview. “I think they were tired. I thought their effort was great. Everyone was working hard indivudally, but it didn’t come together well.”
Sehome outshot Lynden 8 to 4, and Lions keeper Emily Holt made a game-high six saves.
