Hallberg’s goal not enough for Lyncs

Lynden Christian’s girls’ soccer team had some good opportunities late but couldn’t get past Anacortes, as the two teams tied 1-1 in a Northwest Conference game on Tuesday, Sept. 16, at Anacortes High School.

The Lyncs got on the board in the 21st minute when Madi Hallberg got the ball 35 yards out, dribbled to the corner of the 18-yard line and chipped the keeper to the far post.

“I thought overall, we did some nice things,” LC (2-0-3, 0-0-1 NWC) coach Brent De Ruyter said in a phone interview. “We had some good opportunities to win the game in the second half. We just couldn’t quite finish.”

Anacortes’ Jacy Ammons scored in the 44th minute to even the score.

LC faces Meridian in a big 1A matchup on Thursday, Sept. 18, at Lynden Christian High School.
