Despite a late goal from Peyton Schwinger, Bellingham’s girls’ soccer team fell to Shorecrest 2-1 on Saturday, Sept. 13, at Shoreline Stadium.
Schwinger’s goal came off a Mia Hodges service from 30 yards out. When the goalkeeper misplayed it, Schwinger capitalized.
“It was a really physical game,” Bellingham (0-3) coach Mark Wright said in a phone interview. “It was a very tough week for us having to play Squalicum, Sehome and then a very physical Shorecrest.”
Even though Wright’s defense allowed two goals, he acknowledged Emma Brice and Kylie Clark’s play on the backline.

“They did a really nice job of staying with the flow of the game,” Wright said. “Two defenders went out hurt so they were the only two starters left. I’m proud of how hard they fought.”
Bellingham faces Sehome on Tuesday, Sept. 16, at Civic Stadium.
