Blaine’s girls’ soccer team gave up two early goals and couldn’t bounce back in a 2-0 loss to Sultan on Tuesday, Sept. 9, at Sultan High School.
Jewelia Meiehke scored in the third minute for the Turks and Taylor Sharp followed it up with a 14th-minute goal.
Tessa Kelly was in goal for Blaine and had six saves. The Borderites got off five shots on Sultan goalkeeper Bailey Bierbrauer.
“Sultan came out with an organized attack,” Blaine coach Kelly Tuski said in a phone interview. “They were looking to penetrate and get crosses, and Tessa came out of the box to get the ball repeatedly. She doesn’t hesitate to come out and does her job above and beyond.”
