Former Nooksack Valley and Meridian football player Adam Mydland and the U.S. Under-19 National Team earned the silver medal at the 2016 International Federation of American Football World Championship on July 10, falling to Canada 24-6 in the gold-medal game in Harbin, China.
Sunday’s loss was the Americans’ first in four games in the tournament and kept the team from successfully defending its title. Team USA beat Canada 32-14 a week earlier in the preliminary round but had no answer for the Canadians on either side of the ball in the gold-medal game.
Mydland, who completed his freshman season at College of the Siskiyous in Weed, Calif., had several standout performances for Team USA at left defensive end, including a handful of sacks and forcing two turnovers that were returned for touchdowns.
