Question: How did you first start playing football?
Answer: I lived in Canada when I first started playing. The NHL had just gone on strike, so I decided to give up hockey and take up a new sport. Football looked exciting, so I tried it and loved it.
Q: What do you like most about playing football?
A: The excitement that every week brings. There are always different challenges that make the game fun and exciting to play.
Q: What is your favorite part of game night?
A: Anytime I’m out on the field.
Q: What is your favorite football memory?
A: Playing for a team here or in Canada that has won the State/Provincial championship the past four years.
Q: What is your favorite play to run on game night and why?
A: Power 42. Or any pass play in that formation, because I get to run routes from the tight end position.
Q: Who is the funniest guy on your team and why?
A: Sterling Somers, no doubt about it. We crack jokes back and forth with one another 24-7. It’s always a good time when we are on the field together, especially in practice.
Q: What is your usual/favorite pregame meal?
A: Cold cut combo from Subway.
Q: Do you have any pregame rituals/superstitions?
A: I have eaten Subway before every game. Not really on purpose, but I guess it counts.
Q: Is there a reason you chose your jersey number?
A: My first year I played football I was No. 18. I’ve just rolled with it ever since. I’m sure Sterling is happy that I stuck with it. He reminds me every day as many times as possible that it’s my number. You can ask him about that one.
Q: What position, other than the ones you currently play, would you like to try and why?
A: D-line. It looks like it’s always an all-out battle between the D-line and the O-line all the time.
Q: What drill do you dislike running the most in practice?
A: Tackling circuit.
Q: Do you root for the Huskies or Cougars and why?
A: The Huskies. My mom went to Washington, so I’ve been raised a Huskies fan. Go Dawgs!
Q: Who is your favorite NFL player and why?
A: Drew Brees. He’s a great leader and an awesome role model. Also, Johnny Manziel. I love the way he plays. He never fails to make highlight-reel plays.
Q: What do you think is the best sports movie and why?
A: “Friday Night Lights.” It really gets into how intense football is, and it shows the true atmosphere of the sport.
Q: What other sports do you like to play?
A: Basketball and track.
Q: What do you plan to do after you are done with high school?
A: Going to a university to study business.
Q: What other hobbies do you have?
A: Play poker with the football guys, shoot hoops and hang out with my friends.
Q: What is the most played song on your phone/iPod?
A: I have two: “Autumn Leaves” by Chris Brown and Kendrick Lamar, and “This is the Best” by USS.
Q: What is your favorite TV show and why?
A: “Brooklyn Nine-Nine.” It’s hilarious.
Q: What is your favorite video game?
A: “NCAA Football 14” or “NBA 2K14.”
Q: What is your most favorite and least favorite class in school and why?
A: My favorite is AP U.S. History, because I find our history really interesting. My least favorite is Chemistry, because it’s extremely hard and confusing.
Q: Who is your favorite follow on Twitter, and why?
A: I don’t have my own twitter, but Sterling decided to make one for/about me. It’s pretty funny: @18canada18. He definitely came up with that username.
