The Lummi football team scored 38 unanswered second-half points to earn a 66-28 Northwest 1B League win Saturday, Nov. 1, at Lopez.
Lummi backup quarterback Austin Brockie threw five touchdown passes, and Hank Hoskins added two rushing scores.
The game was tied at 28 at half, before the Blackhawks tightened up their defense and shut out Lopez the rest of the way.
“They were basically doing their assignments and everyone was doing their job,” Lummi coach Jim Sandusky said when asked how the Blackhawks’ defense played so well in the second half. “We were taking better angles at the quarterback, and he was scrambling around.”

Nearly all of the Blackhawks’ touchdowns were of the big-play variety. Brockie threw TD tosses of 8, 25, 30 58 and 65 yards.
“We wanted to get our backup quarterback more playing time this game before the loser-out games start,” Sandusky said. “(Brockie) and Hank are a good combination to have.”
