Behind the Facemask with Bellingham’s Eric Thompson

Name: Eric Thompson

Year: Senior

Height: 5-foot-10

Weight: 155 pounds

Positions: Wide receiver/defensive back

Question: How did you first start playing football?

Answer: I played Boys & Girls Club football for Sunset Car Wash in the sixth grade.

Q: What do you like most about playing football?

A: When everyone is doing their job on defense, and we start shutting the offense down. This feeling is typically short lived, though, as the offense is forced to punt.

Q: What is your favorite part of game night?

A: When I’m on the field playing. Everything pregame just tests my patience.

Q: What is your favorite football memory?

A: In the eighth grade, I played for the Golden Eagles in NCYFL. During the end of one game, I caught a touchdown pass with the corner all over me.

Q: What is your favorite play to run on game night and why?

A: Bingo. It’s our best defensive play. Nobody passes on Bingo.

Q: Who is the funniest guy on your team and why?

A: Bellingham takes football very seriously. Humor of any kind is not tolerated.

Q: What is your usual/favorite pregame meal?

A: Spaghetti is always good the night before a game. Right before a game, I keep it light and might have a protein bar.

Q: Do you have any pregame rituals/superstitions?

A: No.

Q: What position, other than the ones you currently play, would you like to try and why?

A: Nose Guard. I’ve always felt that if I got a good enough jump I could get through the line before the center could block me.

Q: What drill do you dislike running the most in practice?

A: It’s not really a drill, but the warmups are the worst.

Q: Do you root for the Huskies or Cougars and why?

A: It depends on the crowd. I won’t be caught rooting against any diehard Husky or Cougar fans out there. It’s not worth it.

Q: Who is your favorite NFL player and why?

A: Richard Sherman. He’s the best corner in the game.

Q: What do you think is the best sports movie and why?

A: “Major League.” If you can get past the slow start, it will make you laugh a lot. You also have to like baseball.

Q: What other sports do you like to play?

A: Basketball and Baseball.

Q: What do you plan to do after you are done with high school?

A: Going to college but haven’t decided where.

Q: What other hobbies do you have?

A: Video games are kind of a hobby to me.

Q: What is the most played song on your phone/iPod?

A: I don’t know, but it’s probably from the ’80s.

Q: What is your favorite TV show and why?

A: I’d have to say “How I Met Your Mother” for the relationship advice.

Q: What is your favorite video game?

A: “Super Smash Bros.” Though it can be extremely frustrating at times.

Q: What is your most favorite and least favorite class in school and why?

A: Applied physics is my favorite class, as you just make interesting stuff all day. Least favorite would have to be pre-calculus. I’m in AP Calculus right now, and it’s 10 times easier than that class was.

Q: Who is your favorite follow on Twitter, and why?

A: No Twitter.
