After a longer than four-hour bus ride, Mount Baker made the long trip was worth it

Senior running back Carson Engholm led the way for the visiting Mountaineers, who traveled more than four hours to wallop Fulton 56-14 Friday in British Columbia.

Engholm rushed for three touchdowns, while Thomas Barbo, Junior Camacho, Carson Brandland, Colton Knutson and Jason Lee each had one to add to the Mountaineers’ total. It helped that the Mount Baker defense pitched a shutout in the first half while the offense built an insurmountable lead.

“Overall we just played pretty well,” Mount Baker coach Ron Lepper said. “It really came down to playing good team defense.”

Braedon Shannon and Engholm each had key interceptions for the Mountaineers. The Mount Baker coaching staff’s focused on teaching its aggressive defensive players to stay in their lanes instead of over-pursuing payed dividends Friday night, Lepper said.
