BOYS’ BASKETBALL ROUNDUP: Westbrook’s effort gives Squalicum the advantage over Meridian
Squalicum boys’ basketball won 68-46 over Meridian with Josiah Westbrook leading the way with 21 points on Tuesday, Jan. 12.
“We kept it close for about two and a half quarters,” Meridian coach Shane Stacy said in a phone interview. “It was a great effort from both teams, we just let Westbrook get open there in the second half and they started to get ahead of us.”
Ben Wolters and Damek Mitchell each scored 10 points for Squalicum.
Derek Campfield led with 12 points for Meridian and Tyler Linderman followed with 10 points.
Squalicum will host Nooksack Valley and Meridian will play at Lynden Christian at 7:15 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 10.

Lynden Christian 66, Burlington-Edison 46: Zach Roetcisoender led Lynden Christian with 26 points and eight rebounds. Jake Poag followed with 21 points. Trey Lopez led Burlington-Edison with 11 points and both Drew Wesen and Jake Zamora earned nine points and Zamora had six rebounds.
Sedro-Woolley 58, Nooksack Valley 56: Connor Beard led Nooksack Valley with 15 points and David Flores, Noah Rawls and Casey Bauman each earned nine points. Flores and Toner also each scored a 3-point field goal. Ethan Isakson led Sedro-Woolley with 14 points.
Anacortes 78, Bellingham 50: Bellingham boys’ basketball lost to Anacortes in a Northwest Conference game on Tuesday, Jan. 12, at Anacortes High School. No other information was provided.
