GIRLS’ BASKETBALL ROUNDUP: Golden Eagles fall at Eastside Catholic
Darrien Camarillo had 10 points, five rebounds and four assists but the Ferndale girls’ basketball team suffered a 57-36 nonconference loss Monday, Dec. 21, at Eastside Catholic.
Golden Eagles coach Mike Ivy said he was missing some of his players but they were also up against a strong opponent.
“We played a really good first half, but we came out in the third quarter and didn’t play well at all,” Ivy said in a phone interview. “(Eastside Catholic) is very physical, a very good team. Really good guard play.”
Gabrielle Edison had five points and five rebounds, Morgan Barlean added seven assists and Peyton Humbert had five points for the Golden Eagles.

Stanwood 62, Blaine 21: Makayah Veliz had seven points, Kjirstin Larson and Kaitlin Newton had six rebounds each and Ashley Dickerson had a 3-pointer and three assists but Blaine lost a nonconference game at Stanwood. Ashley Depew led Stanwood with 16 points and Haley Strowbridge added 13 points.
Arlington 54, Sehome 12: Sarah Eissess had four points and seven rebounds, Madison MacPhee scored three points and Natalie Zender and Madison Ulrich each scored two points in Sehome’s loss to Arlington. Ulrich also had two assists. Olivia Larson led Arlington with 11 points.
Franklin Pierce 60, Meridian 58: Ryley Zapien, Kyrin Baklund and Kiana Gray each scored 13 points for Meridian in their nonconference loss to Franklin Pierce. Ellesse FitzGerald added nine points and Tanis Harrison earned five. Alexis Foster scored 25 points for Franklin Pierce.
