It wasn't a thing of beauty, but the Lynden Christian girls' basketball team made sure they'll be bringing home a trophy from the Class 1A State Tournament.
Despite shooting just 32.7 percent from the field, the Lyncs beat Cascade Christian 36-19 in a consolation game of the state tournament on Friday, March 6, at the Yakima Valley SunDome.
With the win, the Lyncs extend their season by one day and will play Granger in the fourth-place game at 8 a.m. on Saturday, March 7.
LC hit 16 of 49 shots and turned the ball over 14 times on Friday, one day after shooting 29.3 percent in Thursday's quarterfinal loss to Nine Mile Falls Lakeside. But the Lyncs held the Cougars to 16.1 percent shooting (5 for 31) and forced 20 turnovers.
Haley Hollander led LC with 12 points, while Kara Bajema scored seven.
