Bellingham finishes season strong in 68-60 win

Kalien Hayes led with a game-high 21 points as the Bellingham boys’ basketball team defeated Sehome 68-60 on Tuesday, Feb. 10, at Bellingham High School.

Chase Hatch finished with six points, Dante Check had eight points, Kieran Lewis and Nate Pearsall had three points each and Logan Schilder had 18 points in their last game on senior night.

“We played great defense coming out of halftime and limited (Sehome) to two field goals. We had four guys score in the quarter. Logan had 10, Hofstetter had five and Hayes had five. Those guys kind of got going,” Bellingham coach Brad McKay said in a phone interview.

McKay highlighted all seven of the seniors for having a contribution in the win and setting the tone for the game.

“We did everything we could tonight. The kids deserve all the credit in finishing strong,” McKay said.

Sehome now has the third seed in the 2A Northwest District Tournament and will play Shorcrest next at 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 13, at Shorecrest High School.
