Lynden Christian defeats Mount Baker 69-63

Lynden Christian’s boys’ basketball team defeated Mount Baker 69-63 on Friday, Feb. 6, at Mount Baker High School.

Cody Fransen led the Lyncs (14-7 overall, 8-5 NWC) with 17 points and Jake Poag added 16. Mount Baker (6-16 overall, 2-11 NWC) was led by Colton Ranson’s 17 points and Timothy Soares’ 16 points, 11 rebounds and 13 blocks for a triple-double.

“We had 21 offensive boards tonight. Which was a season high,” Lynden Christian coach Roger DeBoer said in a phone interview. “Fransen had his 13th double-double of the season and did a little bit of everything tonight. He played more mid-range and outside than normal.”

Mount Baker will play Sultan in the first round of the 1A NWC District Tournament on Monday, Feb. 9, at Sultan at a time to be determined. Lynden Christian will play its first game of the 1A NWC District Tournament on Tuesday, Feb. 10, against the Mount Baker-Sultan winner.
